10 killed as fireworks explode during religious festival in Mexico

Temascalcingo : At least 10 people were killed and 64 others injured when pyrotechnic material exploded during a religious festival in central Mexico, authorities said.
The blast happened on Saturday night near the Nuestra Señora de la Luz church in Temascalcingo, Mexico State, as hundreds of people gathered for a fireworks display marking a patron saint’s festival.
The explosion caused a wall to collapse and sent smoke and debris through the area. Two priests were among those injured, according to a local bishop.
The cause of the blast has not yet been established. The Mexico State Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation.
Fireworks are widely used during religious and street celebrations in Mexico, where accidents involving pyrotechnic material are common.
