Medical Centre Ordered to Pay Doctor BD4,072

The First High Labour Court ordered a medical centre to pay a doctor BD3,760 in unpaid wages after her salary was delayed for six months.
The court also awarded her BD312 in compensation for unused annual leave and ordered the centre to issue a service certificate covering her two years of employment.
The doctor had worked as a general practitioner on a monthly salary of BD800. After repeatedly demanding payment of her outstanding wages, she ended her employment relationship with the employer, which agreed to the termination but failed to settle her financial dues.
The court found that the medical centre failed to provide evidence that the outstanding wages had been paid and therefore ordered payment of BD3,760.
It also ruled that delayed wages would carry annual interest of 6% for delays of up to six months, increasing by 1% for each additional month, subject to a maximum of 12% until full payment.
The court further awarded BD312 for the unused leave balance and ordered the medical centre to issue the doctor’s service certificate.
