11 climbers killed in avalanche in Russia

Kabardino-Balkaria : At least 11 climbers have been killed and six injured after an avalanche struck a group in Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, authorities said.
The avalanche hit 15 climbers in the Bezengi Gorge after they descended from 5,025-metre Mount Mizhirgi.
Three survivors were evacuated to Nalchik, while rescuers continued searching the area for missing climbers.
The cause of the avalanche was not immediately known. Emergency teams, including an Mi-8 helicopter, were sent to the mountainous region as the rescue operation continued.
