From Climate Action to Youth Rights

Bahrain’s efforts in climate action, youth development and political and human rights were highlighted by Member of Parliament Hassan Ibrahim Hassan during the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Uzbekistan.

MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, a member of the IPU Bureau of Young Parliamentarians and representative of the Arab Group, took part in several sessions addressing issues affecting young people and future generations.

Speaking during a session on strengthening resilience to climate change, he outlined Bahrain’s national climate targets, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, cutting emissions, expanding renewable energy, increasing afforestation and protecting ecosystems.

He referred to Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, which is built around sustainability, justice and competitiveness, while placing human capital development at the centre of efforts to create employment and economic growth opportunities.

During a further session on protecting political rights and ending violence against women and youth, MP Ibrahim presented Bahrain’s national experience in the political and human rights fields and highlighted the foundations of the Kingdom’s reform and constitutional project.
