Bahrain Connects with Saudi Rail Network in Strategic Initiative
His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the Saudi International Railway Exhibition and Conference 2025 held in Riyadh from October 19 to 20. The event was hosted under the patronage of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and brought together ministers, experts, and decision-makers from the transport and logistics sectors worldwide.
During the conference, His Excellency took part in the high-level ministerial dialogue at the opening ceremony, discussing the theme: “Developing National Railway Networks: Aligning Infrastructure Projects with Long-Term Economic Visions.” The session featured ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab nations, emphasizing regional collaboration in transport development.
In his remarks, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the strategic significance of the King Hamad Rail Bridge project, describing it as a cornerstone of Gulf logistics integration. The project will connect Bahrain’s national railway network with Saudi Arabia’s, with the King Hamad International Station set to serve as a central hub for transport and logistics in Bahrain. He noted that the development will enhance the Kingdom’s capacity to facilitate regional trade and generate significant economic benefits.
