King Hamad Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences University Opens in Islamabad
Islamabad - On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain and Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Field Marshal Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the National Guard, inaugurated the King Hamad University for Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences in Islamabad. The ceremony was attended by General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Pakistan Armed Forces, Brigadier Shaikh Fahad bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services of the BDF, and a number of senior Pakistani civilian and military officials.
The university was established under an agreement signed between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in August 2016, following directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during his official visit to Pakistan in 2014. The foundation stone for the university was laid in January 2017.
Speaking on the occasion, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his generous contribution to the university. He highlighted that the King’s vision reflects the enduring brotherhood and friendship between the peoples and governments of Bahrain and Pakistan, based on shared values, cooperation, and mutual respect. The university stands as a testament to Bahrain’s commitment to supporting education and healthcare beyond its borders.
The new university will provide modern residential facilities for up to 1,000 students and aims to graduate 500 specialists annually. It will offer top-tier academic and administrative expertise, following curricula recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), while adhering to internationally approved academic and medical standards.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza concluded by thanking Field Marshal Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the National Guard, for inaugurating the King Hamad University for Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences in Islamabad.
