Officials Inspect Ongoing Maintenance Work at Government Schools
Engineer Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, and Ms. Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, conducted an inspection tour of several government schools currently undergoing comprehensive maintenance. The visit included Beit Al Hikma Primary Girls’ School and Isa Town Secondary Boys’ School, allowing officials to review the progress of work under this year’s maintenance plan, designed to meet the needs of the education sector according to approved priorities.
During the visit, Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa highlighted that the Ministry of Works began maintenance projects for 27 government schools at the start of the summer break, preparing them for the 2025–2026 academic year. The projects, with a total cost of BHD 9 million, cover civil, mechanical, and electrical works, internal and external painting, repairs to doors and windows, and replacement of damaged plumbing, electrical systems, and sanitary fixtures. Energy-saving lighting will also be installed, and windows will be replaced with heat-insulated models.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Works coordinates closely with the Ministry of Education to prioritize maintenance based on each school’s needs. The annual plan aims to preserve the structural integrity of buildings, enhance indoor environments, extend the schools’ lifespan, ensure sustainability, and improve operational efficiency—all while safeguarding the safety of school users and maintaining high service standards.
Ms. Nawal Al Khater confirmed that the Ministry of Education is continuing preparations for a smooth start to the school year. She explained that a comprehensive maintenance plan is being implemented to ensure a safe and attractive learning environment for students and staff. As part of these efforts, over 29,000 air-conditioning units have been serviced, and approximately 5,000 new units installed across schools, with dedicated teams monitoring performance and promptly addressing any malfunctions. She also noted that all maintenance work follows sustainability standards, using high-quality, eco-friendly materials to extend the lifespan of school facilities and maintain a high-quality learning environment.
