A wave of congratulations has swept across the Arab world as Bahrain celebrates its election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the 2026–2027 term, representing the Arab group. Saudi Arabia was among the first to extend its warmest congratulations, hailing the achievement as a testament to Bahrain’s growing diplomatic stature.
In a statement released by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Kingdom expressed its sincere wishes for Bahrain’s success, stating that the election reflects “the international community’s confidence in Bahrain’s ability to play an active role in promoting global peace and security.”
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for Bahrain as it embarks on this significant diplomatic mission and voiced confidence in the Kingdom’s capability to represent Arab interests and values at the highest international level.
Other Arab nations swiftly followed suit. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, emphasized Bahrain’s well-deserved place on the Council. Spokesperson Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah highlighted Bahrain’s effective diplomacy and commitment to humanitarian and development initiatives. “This position is a reflection of Bahrain’s elevated standing in the region and globally,” he said, reaffirming Jordan’s full support for Bahrain’s efforts—especially in defending core Arab issues, including Palestine.
From Somalia, another sitting member of the Security Council (2025–2026), came words of both celebration and solidarity. In a statement via its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reported by SONNA, the Somali government praised Bahrain’s diplomatic capabilities and pledged close cooperation during its term. Somalia expressed confidence that Bahrain would be a strong advocate for Arab unity and key regional concerns on the international stage.
The Sultanate of Oman also welcomed the news warmly. In an official statement carried by the Oman News Agency, Oman congratulated Bahrain on earning international trust and affirmed that the Kingdom’s voice on the Security Council would enhance dialogue, peace efforts, and mutual understanding in global affairs.
Meanwhile, Egypt applauded Bahrain’s diplomatic milestone in a statement released by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, published through MENA. Cairo emphasized that the Kingdom's success—achieved with overwhelming international support—demonstrates the world’s faith in Bahrain’s leadership. Egypt hailed the wisdom and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, expressing full confidence in Bahrain’s ability to be a “genuine Arab voice” in defense of shared values and interests.
With this significant international role, Bahrain stands poised to bring its vision of diplomacy, peace, and cooperation to the forefront of global policy-making, with the full backing of its Arab allies.
