HRH Prince Salman’s speech sets out Bahrain’s global role clearly: MP

MP Dr Maryam Al Dhaen said the speech delivered by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the summit between the Gulf states, ASEAN and China, set out the Kingdom of Bahrain’s stance on global cooperation.

The message, she said, expressed Bahrain’s view that international dialogue is the only route to lasting peace and steady development.

She pointed to the call for closer partnerships to deal with energy needs, digital change and security threats, both near and far.

The lawmaker added that special focus was given to the rise of artificial intelligence.

The idea of a shared global agreement to keep its use in check and to ensure it remains in service to people rather than the other way round struck her as a sound step.

On the Middle East, she noted the HRH Prince Salman’s appeal to back the Palestinian cause and help rebuild Gaza, saying it matched Bahrain’s long-held position on fairness and regional peace.

She said the country, under HM the King’s direction, continues to hold a central place in efforts to build ties between regions.
