BACA to host gala charity dinner
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) will organise today a special function to support the museum shows of Al Hidaya Al Khalifia Boys Secondary School on the school’s premises in Muharraq.
The event is part of the authority’s work to preserve Bahrain’s cultural memory and its festivities to mark the National and Accession Days.
The event reflects BACA commitment to reviving the architectural memory of a landmark venue, which stands witness to the history of regular education in Bahrain. Proceeds of the event will be used in outfitting the school’s building with light equipment and for the museum shows inside it, which will showcase a collection keeping a record of the educational march in Bahrain.
Al Hidaya Al Khalifia Boys Secondary School is the first school established in Bahrain. It dates back to 1919 and was built from the best quality natural rocks, which were transported from Jeddah island. It was designed by an Indian architect and is considered as a landmark in modern education in Bahrain.
BACA is currently restoring the school’s old building in cooperation with the Education Ministry in preparation for its inauguration as a museum depicting the history of education in Bahrain and recovering the old building features, which highlight Bahrain’s glorious architectural heritage.
