The Bahrain Paralympic Committee has announced the organization of the first National Paralympic Athletics Championship, a two-day event featuring broad participation from athletes with disabilities as well as a number of able-bodied athletes, in line with efforts to promote sports inclusion and expand participation in athletics.
The championship includes a variety of competitions, most notably wheelchair races over 100m, 400m, and 800m distances. Field events will also be held, including shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw for both standing and seated categories.
Organisers said the event aims to discover new sporting talent, develop athletes’ abilities, and provide them with the opportunity to compete in a structured sporting environment that enhances technical performance and prepares them for upcoming competitions.
The second round of the championship is scheduled to take place on the 15th and 16th of next month.
