Daily traffic congestion in parts of Hamad Town has renewed calls for authorities to reconsider plans for a proposed junction aimed at easing pressure on residents.

Municipal councillor Abdulla Al Qubaisi said he is seeking a review of a proposal to construct a roundabout, intersection or traffic island at the junction of Road 3 and Road 30.

He said the alternative location would improve traffic flow and road safety for residents of Blocks 1205, 1018 and 1016, who use the route daily.

Al Qubaisi urged the Ministry of Works to carry out a comprehensive traffic study, warning that the ministry’s current proposal may only benefit a limited section of the area while leaving congestion issues unresolved.

He added that the proposed intersection at Roads 3 and 30 would provide smoother vehicle movement, reduce delays during peak hours and improve access to residential areas for a larger number of residents.
