Online community flays public burnout attempt

Social media users were outraged after a video emerged of a motorist performing a stunt in front of a traffic policeman.

An SUV vehicle was caught on tape performing a stunt while a traffic police officer in uniform was witnessing it.

In the video, the officer, who was on a General Traffic Directorate motorbike, seemed to be obstructed by the vehicle.

The driver apparently performed a ‘burnout’ stunt, a manoeuvre that uses acceleration and breaks simultaneously to produce smoke by heating the tyres.

The video clearly shows the smoke and loud sound could also be heard from the vehicle.

Social media reports claim that the incident occurred during the National Day holidays but there has been no official confirmation.

“Disgusting, This is really a bad way to celebrate the National Day by disrespecting policemen in public,” Facebook page ‘SSFC’ stated.

“Best way of celebrating the National Day is paying utmost respect to laws, rules and regulations of the Kingdom and working for the best of the Kingdom,” another user remarked.

No further details were  available on whether the motorist in the video was fined or arrested.

Earlier this year, a similar outrage ensued when motorcyclists were caught on tape performing stunts next to traffic policemen.

They were later caught and dealt by the authorities.
