Man detained over AI misinformation posts

A 27-year-old man has been detained in Bahrain over allegations that he misused social media by publishing misleading content generated using artificial intelligence.
The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security said the individual shared material online containing false claims and fabricated scenes produced through AI technologies.
Authorities said the content also included incitement and offensive material, which they warned could influence public opinion and threaten social cohesion and national stability.
The directorate confirmed that legal procedures have been taken against the suspect, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
