Beirut: According to Lebanon's Health Ministry, an Israeli air strike on the southern Lebanese city of Tyre caused at least 8 deaths and 32 injuries before the Israeli military issued an evacuation order for the area. The death toll was revised upward from previous reports of three fatalities, as rescue crews continued to search through the rubble for survivors.

Later, the Israeli military declared that it was targeting ‘terror infrastructure’ associated with Hezbollah and ordered the evacuation of the city, including its historic Christian quarter. In southern Lebanon, the strike caused a new wave of displacement and panic among civilians.

As locals fled the area, humanitarian and medical organisations reported increasing demand on hospitals and emergency services. According to sources, the Tyre incident is among the most devastating since Israel and Hezbollah escalated their conflict in March. Despite a ceasefire negotiated by the US earlier this year, firing continued along the Israel-Lebanon border, raising concerns of a wider regional escalation.
