Governor Praises Interior Ministry Coordination for Ashura

His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, emphasized the importance of creating all necessary conditions for the success of the Ashura season in an atmosphere of security and stability, reflecting Bahrain’s values of coexistence and tolerance.

He praised the outcomes of the recent annual meeting held by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, with heads and officials of ma’tams ahead of the Ashura season. The meeting highlighted community partnership, preservation of social cohesion, and ensuring that Ashura observances take place safely and in line with public safety requirements.

This came during a meeting between the Governor and a number of ma’tam leaders and officials in the Southern Governorate, attended by the Deputy Governor Brigadier Hamad Mohammed Al Khayat, Deputy Director-General of the Southern Governorate Police Directorate Colonel Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, along with several officers representing security departments at the Ministry of Interior.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali reaffirmed the governorate’s role in coordinating with ma’tam officials and ensuring the provision of necessary security, organizational, and service-related requirements. He stressed the importance of joint efforts by all relevant entities to strengthen community partnership and ensure the success of the Ashura season.

Ma’tam leaders and officials expressed their appreciation to the Governor for his continued engagement and coordination efforts, noting that such communication strengthens cooperation and reinforces the principle of community partnership.
