Bahrain rep Al Ruwa’e chairs UNGA session

Bahrain Permanent representative to the United Nations and UN General Assembly (UNGA) Acting President Jamal Fares Al Ruwa’e chaired the GA session on the culture of peace here yesterday.

 He delivered a speech on behalf of UNGA President, highlighting the report of the UN Secretary-General, who stressed the need to encourage the culture of peace, dialogue, understanding and cooperation between religions and cultures for peace. 

He commended the UNESCO role to foster the culture of peace, hailing the efforts made by Bangladesh and the UN Secretary General. He shed light on the modern challenges, which are now curbing the culture of peace, stressing particularly the flagrant violation of the international human law, the environmental degradation and spreading extremism. 

Al Ruwa’e chaired the UNGA special session, which discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the mounting challenges facing security and political stability in addition to the whole peace process.
