Man in custody for defaming martyrs

The High Criminal Court has ordered a man accused of defaming the Bahraini soldiers, who martyred in Yemen, to be kept in police custody.

The defendant is said to have broadcast insulting comments on Twitter against the martyrs as well as the soldiers taking part in the Saudi-led military operations in Yemen against the Huthi rebels.

Police investigations led to his arrest. He was charged with spreading false news that could put the ongoing military operations at risk and defame a sect in Bahrain. The defendant’s trial was adjourned until January 17 for review.
