Melbourne lockdown extended, despite decrease in new cases

Sydney

Lockdown measures in the Australian city of Melbourne were due to be extended by two weeks, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday, despite a significant decrease in new daily coronavirus infections in the state. Andrews told reporters there were 63 new infections overnight, the smallest increase in cases since June, continuing a fall since the high of 725 on August 5.
