Culiacán: Cesar Gastelum, a 23-year-old Mexican TikTok influencer, was shot and killed while livestreaming with friends outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán, Sinaloa, authorities said. The attack occurred in public when two men arrived on a motorbike, one of whom opened fire, killing Gastelum before fleeing the scene. The shooting was filmed on a webcast that terminated shortly after the attack.

Gastelum had approximately 600,000 TikTok followers, and he was well-known for his humour and lifestyle content. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the death, but no arrests have been made, and the motive is unclear. The incident raised concerns about growing violence in Sinaloa, a province long dominated by organised crime.

The murder is the most recent in a string of assaults on Mexican social media influencers, that comes after the well-known 2025 murder of influencer Valeria Márquez, who was also shot while livestreaming.
