Italy Allocates €100 Million to Rebuild Earthquake-Stricken Communities

Rome: The Italian government granted €100 million ($115 million) in emergency funding to help communities devastated by last week's deadly earthquake near Naples. The funding package will help restore destroyed houses and public infrastructure in the hardest-hit areas.
The 4.7-magnitude earthquake, which occurred on Friday evening, was the largest to hit the region in 40 years. It injured 26 people and forced approximately 700 residents to evacuate, with the most of the damage reported in Pozzuoli, west of Naples.
Civil Protection Minister Nello Musumeci reported that firefighters had designated 395 dwellings uninhabitable. While 568 evacuees have already found alternate housing, 128 individuals remain in hotels as officials continue their relief efforts.
The affected area is located within the Campi Flegrei (Phlegraean Fields) volcanic zone, which is one of Europe's most seismically active places. After the major quake, many lower-intensity aftershocks occurred, prompting officials to remain on alert.
