UAE: Water Must Never Be Used as a Weapon
The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed that water must never be weaponized, stressing that waterways and water infrastructure are essential to sustaining life and should be protected under all circumstances.
Speaking at a side event titled "Water as a Tool for Peace: Reassessing Progress and Shaping the 2026 Agenda," held on the sidelines of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), the UAE underscored the international community's shared responsibility to safeguard water infrastructure and ensure universal access to safe water.
The UAE said the 2026 UN Water Conference, which it will co-host with Senegal, will provide a crucial platform to deliver practical solutions to global water challenges and transform dialogue into meaningful action.
The country also emphasized that the conference will reinforce the global understanding that water is a catalyst for building resilience, fostering peace, and advancing long-term stability and prosperity.
