11 Killed, Including Children, in Fire at Algeria Child Welfare Facility

Algiers : Eleven people, including children, have died and 19 others have been injured after a fire broke out at a child welfare facility in Mohammadia, east of Algiers.
The blaze started at around 3:30am at the Childhood Relief Institution, a residential centre that provides shelter and care for orphans, abandoned children and minors with special needs. Emergency teams evacuated five residents with special needs to safety.
Several injured people were treated for burns and smoke inhalation, while others suffered severe psychological shock. Firefighting and rescue operations have ended, and Algerian authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
