Netanyahu’s Support Falls in Northern Israel as Hezbollah Conflict Weighs on Voters

Jerusalem : Support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fallen sharply in northern Israel, where residents have been most affected by Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks, according to a new poll.

The survey found growing dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the conflict in Lebanon, with many voters in the region saying they want stronger action against Hezbollah rather than a ceasefire.

The decline in support comes as Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a new ceasefire aimed at ending months of hostilities. However, many residents near the border remain sceptical that the agreement will eliminate the threat posed by Hezbollah.

Poll results suggest Netanyahu's Likud party has lost significant backing in the north compared with the last election, increasing pressure on the prime minister ahead of national elections expected later this year.

Opposition figures, including former military chief Gadi Eizenkot, have seized on the issue, accusing the government of compromising on security and calling for a tougher approach toward Hezbollah.

The shift in voter sentiment highlights the political challenges facing Netanyahu as security concerns and regional tensions continue to dominate public debate in Israel.
