Muscat: Oman said operations at Mina Al Fahal port are continuing normally after reports that oil loading had been temporarily suspended following an explosion near the terminal's offshore mooring facilities.

Petroleum Development Oman said on Friday that activities at the port were proceeding as usual, after sources told Reuters that an explosion had occurred between Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) 1 and SBM 2, allegedly due to a drone attack.

The reported blast had raised concerns over possible disruptions to oil exports, with several supertankers seen anchored off the port on Friday, according to shipping data.

It was not immediately clear when the incident occurred, and Omani authorities did not provide further details on the reported explosion.

Mina Al Fahal is a key export terminal for Oman, handling around 800,000 to 900,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over the security of energy infrastructure and shipping routes in the Gulf. Earlier this week, Iranian state media claimed Tehran had targeted a U.S. military vessel in the Gulf of Oman, a claim denied by U.S. Central Command.
