Kuwait Attack Sparks Concern
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has sent a message of condolence to India’s Foreign Minister following the death of an Indian national and injuries to others in recent attacks attributed to Iran against Kuwait.
In a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi expressed his “sincere condolences and sympathy” to Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, over the incident that occurred on 3 June 2026.
The message referenced the “recent Iranian attacks” targeting Kuwait, which resulted in the death of one Indian citizen and injuries to others.
Albudaiwi also praised India’s swift condemnation of the attacks, noting New Delhi’s clear position calling for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure. He said this response reflects the depth of the strategic partnership between the GCC states and India, as well as their shared commitment to international law and regional stability.
He further stressed that the safety and security of all residents in GCC countries remains a top priority for member states.
The Secretary-General added that continued attacks against GCC states require a unified and firm international stance to deter such actions and hold those responsible accountable.
