Iran, Turkiye FMs discuss 'ongoing diplomatic developments' to ease Middle East tensions

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan have discussed West Asia issues and the ongoing diplomatic developments to ease tensions in that region.

Araghchi and Fidan held a phone conversation on Sunday night, according to a press release by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s official Telegram page.

The phone call took place amid escalating tensions over Washington’s threats of renewed military action against Iran over its peaceful nuclear energy program and the restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran put the restrictions in early March as part of its self-defense measures in response to the war of aggression that the US and the Israeli regime launched on February 28.
