Man Dies After Being Pulled Into MRI Machine, Clinic Faces Legal Action
A lawsuit has been filed following a tragic incident in Nassau County, New York, where a man died after being pulled into an MRI machine at a local radiology clinic.
The incident took place in July 2025 at a medical facility in Nassau County, when 61-year-old Keith McAllister accompanied his wife to her appointment. After her scan was completed, he entered the MRI room to assist her.
According to court filings, McAllister was wearing a large metal chain around his neck when he was suddenly pulled into the MRI machine by its powerful magnetic force. He remained trapped against the machine for several minutes as attempts were made to free him before emergency responders arrived.
He suffered critical injuries and died the following day.
His widow has filed a lawsuit against the clinic, alleging negligence and failure to enforce proper safety procedures. The complaint states that staff did not warn him to remove the metal chain or prevent him from entering the MRI room.
The lawsuit further claims that she witnessed the incident and has since experienced severe emotional and physical trauma, seeking compensation for damages, including medical and psychological suffering. The total amount sought has not been disclosed.
The case has drawn attention to safety measures in MRI facilities, where strict protocols are required due to the strong magnetic fields capable of pulling metal objects with extreme force.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing as the legal proceedings continue.
