GAZA: Al Jazeera has condemned the killing of journalist Mohammed Wishah in an Israeli strike on Wednesday, calling the death a ‘deliberate and targeted crime’. Wishah, a journalist for Al Jazeera Mubasher, was killed when the vehicle he was travelling in was bombed in the Sheikh Ajlin area, west of Gaza City.
The network stated that the killing was intended to ‘intimidate journalists’ and held Israeli forces fully responsible for the attack. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) echoed the condemnation, noting that more than 220 journalists have been killed in Gaza over the past two and a half years. According to RSF, at least 70 of those journalists were killed while performing their professional duties.
Wishah is the 11th Al Jazeera journalist killed in Gaza since the conflict began in October 2023. The network has announced it will pursue all necessary legal action to prosecute those responsible and seek justice for its fallen staff. While a fragile ceasefire has been in place since October 2025, both sides continue to exchange accusations of violations as military strikes persist.
