HOUSTON: Just hours into the Artemis II mission, the four-person crew encountered a software glitch with Microsoft Outlook. While orbiting Earth, Mission Commander Reid Wiseman reported technical difficulties with his onboard Surface Pro.
The exchange, captured during a live mission broadcast, featured Wiseman telling Houston, ‘And then I also see that I have two Microsoft Outlooks, and neither one of those are working.’
Ground control responded by identifying a conflict with the ‘Optimus’ software and requested to ‘remote in’ to the spacecraft's network to resolve the duplicate application instances. NASA utilizes standard Windows-based systems for non-critical tasks to ensure a familiar environment for astronauts. The glitch was successfully resolved from Earth, and officials confirmed it did not impact the Orion spacecraft’s critical flight or navigation systems.
