Thailand’s incumbent prime minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, expressed hope that voters would place their trust in his party as he cast his ballot on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters in Buriram, Anutin said his team had done all it could during the campaign but acknowledged that the final decision rested with the public. “We’ve done everything we could, but we can’t force the hearts of the people,” he said, adding that he hoped voters would support his party.
Anutin’s Bhumjaithai Party was ranked second in opinion polls ahead of the election. Despite this, political observers widely expect him to retain his position as prime minister through a coalition agreement following the vote.
