Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will never stop acting together even if they “oversaturate the marketplace”.
The two life long friends - who met at high school and first worked with on 1997’s Good Will Hunting - have made three films together in the last four years, with The Last Duel, Air and The Rip.
Matt has revealed how he started crying after watching Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary Get Back, which concluded with a title card noting how the band never worked together again.
Speaking to GQ magazine, he recalled telling Ben: “Who cares if we oversaturate the marketplace with movies we’re both in?
“We’re crazy if we don’t take advantage of the fact that we are both still here and able to do this.”
In The Rip, the pair fall into type, with Ben in a more flamboyant role, and Matt playing the more pensive character.
Matt quipped: “Well someone’s gotta put the movie on their back.
“I don’t know—maybe he’s just a more versatile actor than I am. But I don’t think that’s intentional.
“I think it’s just worked out that way. But we got more movies to make together, so maybe we can switch it up a little more.”
His friend laughed at the idea he has “all the fun”, but insisted the dynamic has been there for almost 30 years.
