Manama
---
Preparations are set to get into full swing ahead of the 2015/2016 BIC 2,000cc Challenge tomorrow evening with the first pre-season tests to be held at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir between 7pm and 10pm.
The new season will be the ninth edition of the annual challenge and features eight rounds, beginning with the championship-opener on October 2, with round two on November 6 and round three on December 4.
Five rounds will take place next year with the first on January 8 and the final back-to-back weekends on May 6 and 13. The BIC 2,000cc Challenge is Bahrain’s longest-running circuit racing championship and gives racers a chance to compete in a professionally run series while minimising costs.
Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa (235 points) is the defending champion and won last season’s crown in dominant fashion and will be going for back-to-back tiles and a third overall.
Other top competitors who may return to action are Hussain Karimi, Alex Longden, Abdulrahman Ghuloom, Raed Himmo, Salah Salahuddin, Tim Birkin and Stephen Kellogg.
