BSB students excel in World Scholars Cup

This year, The British School of Bahrain (BSB) entered a delegation of 53 students into the World Scholars Cup (WSC) national round competition held at St. Christopher’s School.

The teams of three consisted of sixteen junior teams (Years 7-9) and two senior teams (Years 10-11). The competition was the biggest ever held in Bahrain with over 500 delegates in total competing to be selected for the global round.

This competition started with the team debates, each team having to debate with three different teams, on motions across all the subjects, from policy to poetry.  This was followed by a scholars challenge in the afternoon. The afternoon finished with a collaborative writing activity.

The next day brought about some excitement and entertainment, starting with the scholar’s bowl and each team in the auditorium was given a ‘clicker’. After lunch, the talent show entertained all the students. The evening ended with the awards ceremony that was also attended by parents.

The winners have qualified to the global round, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June 2018. BSB students enjoyed the experience of learning, interacting and having fun with other students from different schools.

“BSB is very proud of all our students who won medals and trophies. A particular mention must be made for two of our Junior teams, who did exceptionally well in the competition! They took away both the first and second place champion teams trophy. We would also like to congratulate Farah Al Aradi for getting the first place champion scholar trophy. We also cannot forget our two senior teams! One of them achieved a fourth place Champion team trophy and the member of the other team, Alexandra Roberts, received the third place Champion Scholar’s trophy, ” BSB said in a press release.
