One Stop Shop comes up in Southern Area Municipality
The Southern Area Municipality yesterday launched its ambitious project ‘One Stop Shop’ under the patronage of Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, Dr Nabil Mohammed Abu Al Fath.
The One Stop Shop was inaugurated at the services building of the municipality near Mashtan in Al Bukoarah- East Riffa.
Briefing on the One Stop Shop, Project Manager Essa Omran said that it was the first project designed by them within the municipality.
About 70 per cent of the cost had been saved in the total project as no outsourcing was done, he said. Had the project been outsourced, the cost would have been more, he said.
Whoever comes here could finish his/her job at the One Stop Shop itself, the project manager said, adding that the municipality was trying to avoid people going through various departments for their work.
Omran said that the municipality was also trying to improve its service there, adding that there were plans to make services online.
Meanwhile, he hinted that the One Stop Shop would soon be shifted to a better and bigger location. “Currently, our aim is to improve the services here,” he said.
Senior General Engineer at the Southern Area Municipality, Dalal Isa, said that the centre would handle issues like building and advertising permits. Regarding building permits, people can apply manually if their proposed building is smaller than 140 sq metre. If the building is bigger than 140 sq metre, the applicants have the option to apply online also, she said, adding that the centre would provide guidance to anyone who has a problem within the municipality.
General Engineer at the municipality, Maisam Al Maskati, said that the One Stop Shop was launched upon the request of the people. Improvements would be done based on the suggestions of the people.
“It is not an ordinary counter, but a centre to solve all the problems,” she said.
