Bahrain Through Women’s Eyes

ILA celebrates creativity and love for the Kingdom at IMAGEin Photography Awards

The Indian Ladies Association (ILA) celebrated Bahrain’s beauty and culture through the lens of women photographers at the IMAGEin Bahrain Women’s Photography Competition, held as part of its 70th anniversary celebrations.

The competition attracted strong community participation, with 150 women photographers submitting more than 200 photographs capturing their unique perspectives of the Kingdom.

The winning entries were announced during an award ceremony held at the ILA clubhouse, attended by chief guest and Bahraini filmmaker Bassam Al Thawadi.

Kavya Sarin won first place, receiving a $500 cash prize and a Canon vlogging camera, while Najeeba T secured second place with a $300 prize and Canon photo printer. Manahil Sohail won third place, receiving $200 and a Canon colour printer.

The competition invited women to showcase Bahrain through their own viewpoint, highlighting the country’s culture, landscapes, landmarks, and community spirit under the theme “I Love Bahrain.”

The entries went through a multi-stage judging process involving photographers and creative professionals, including cinematographer and director Ajith Nair, Summer Ameen, founder of Verano Creatives Photography & Film Production, and Fatima R. AlShaikh, marketing and corporate communications strategist.

ILA President Smitha Jensen said the initiative was a tribute to Bahrain’s beauty and the strong connection residents share with the Kingdom.

Chief guest Bassam Al Thawadi praised the initiative, highlighting its role in empowering women to document their appreciation for Bahrain’s peaceful and diverse society.
