New substations boost Al Ramli power network
- Two new 220kV and 66kV substations launched
- Project worth BD 19 million
- Improves load distribution across the network
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa inaugurated two major electricity transmission substations serving Al Ramli District, operating at 220kV and 66kV levels, as part of Bahrain’s ongoing infrastructure development drive.
Shaikh Khalid emphasized Bahrain’s continued commitment to advancing essential infrastructure projects that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of key public services, particularly in the electricity and water sectors. He noted that such developments align with the Kingdom’s comprehensive development vision under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
During the inauguration, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan provided a detailed briefing on the project, which cost approximately BD 19 million. The project includes two high-capacity transmission substations equipped with modern transformers and advanced control systems, integrated into the national grid through high-voltage cables to enhance load distribution, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen network reliability.
The Deputy Prime Minister praised the Saudi Fund for Development for financing the project, highlighting its role in supporting strategic infrastructure initiatives in Bahrain under the Gulf Development Programme.
Bandar bin Abdullah Al Obaid, Director General of Arab Countries Operations at the Saudi Fund for Development, stated that the project reflects the long-standing partnership between the Fund and Bahrain, spanning over 49 years. He added that such initiatives aim to support development priorities and improve access to essential services for beneficiaries across the Kingdom.
