Bahraini held for stealing wallet

young Bahraini man has been held in police detention for stealing the wallet of his friend who lent him his car. The defendant’s wife was facing a flat tyre and he is said to have requested the help of his friend to go to her and solve the problem. The friend, according to the police complaint, didn’t hesitate and gave him his car’s key. But his wallet was inside the vehicle at that time.

When the defendant returned the car, the wallet was missing and the car owner received a text message that BD5,000 had been withdrawn from his bank account. Another text message he received after midnight showed the same. So he called up the bank to deactivate his ATM card.

He filed a complaint, and police officers reviewed the footage of the camera installed in the ATM, which was used to withdraw the money. The footage showed a woman wearing veil using the bank card. The defendant was later nabbed after the victim told police that his wallet went missing after the former borrowed his car. The young Bahraini man admitted to stealing it, stating that he consulted with another friend about how to withdraw the money by evading the ATM camera.

“He advised me to use a veil, so we bought one. He withdrew BD1000, and I gave him BD350 and I took the rest for me,” the defendant said. The man who abetted his crime was also arrested.
