Government Hospitals in Bahrain has launched a public awareness platform on colorectal diseases at Marassi Galleria in Diyar Al Muharraq, aiming to promote early detection, prevention, and community education.
The two-day initiative was inaugurated by Dr Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, in cooperation with the Bahrain Association of Coloproctology, and the event will run today.
The platform is designed to raise awareness about colorectal conditions, dispel common misconceptions, and encourage early screening through direct engagement with specialist doctors and consultants available on site.
Dr Al Jalahma said the initiative reflects Government Hospitals’ commitment to strengthening public health outreach by bringing medical awareness directly to community spaces.
She added that early detection of colorectal cancer significantly improves treatment outcomes and survival rates, stressing that preventive healthcare programmes remain a key priority alongside clinical services.
Dr Isra Sami Salman, President of the Bahrain Association of Coloproctology, said the platform provides an opportunity for the public to ask questions and receive clear, evidence-based information about symptoms, risk factors, and prevention methods.
She emphasised that awareness and prevention are essential for improving early diagnosis and expanding treatment options, urging members of the public to attend and benefit from the consultations and educational activities.
