Bahrain Strengthens Green Agenda, Says Shura Council Committee

The Shura Council’s Public Utilities and Environment Committee has highlighted Bahrain’s progress in environmental protection and sustainability, marking World Environment Day on June 5.
Chaired by Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali, the committee praised the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen environmental legislation and policies, noting that Bahrain has developed a strong institutional framework that supports sustainable development in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
It commended national initiatives led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, including the expansion of renewable energy projects, biodiversity protection, and major steps in water sustainability through the National Water Strategy and water reuse programs.
The committee also acknowledged the role of the Supreme Council for the Environment, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in advancing national environmental policies and responding to climate-related challenges. Key efforts such as the National Afforestation Initiative and Bahrain’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 were also highlighted.
