Bahrain King establishes Military Institution for the Development of Warfare Industries at BDF

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday issued Royal Order (23) of 2022, establishing the Military Institution for the Development of Warfare Industries at the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF).

According to the royal order, the Military Institution for the Development of Warfare Industries aims to establish and regulate activities related to military industries at the BDF, including designing, developing and modifying defence and security systems, using modern technology.

It may establish factories for weapons, ammunition and military equipment, manufacture and trade in modern technologies, as well as license any related economic activities within the Kingdom.

It may also develop the military industries sector through its own projects, whether under its direct management and supervision, or in partnership with various companies inside or outside Bahrain, in a manner that would serve its objectives and roles.

The royal order also stipulates that the Military Institution for the Development of Warfare Industries shall have its own budget, within the BDF’s budget.

The BDF Commander-in-Chief shall issue the necessary systems and edicts to regulate the work of the Military Institution for the Development of Warfare Industries, as well as achieve its founding goals, including its tasks, duties, and the appointment of military and civilian employees, in addition to the Institution’s administrative and financial systems.

The Deputy Supreme Commander and the Commander-in-Chief shall implement the royal order, which takes effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
