Bahrain took centre-stage in Milan Expo 2015
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa hailed Bahrain’s remarkable participation in Milan Expo 2015, recently held in Italy. Commending the resounding success of Bahrain’s pavilion, which reflected the Kingdom’s cultural heritage, HM the King congratulated Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa in a meeting at Al Safriya Palace here yesterday.
Bahrain bagged silver medal for second best pavilion in the category of architecture, out of 150 countries, which took part in the Milan Expo 2015.
He hailed the performance, which, he said, proved the credentials of Bahrain’s architecture to compete alongside other countries and consolidate its landmark string of achievements and merits.
HM the King also congratulated Shaikha Mai on choosing the City of Muharraq as Capital of Islamic Culture for 2018. HM King Hamad underscored the importance of participating in such high- profile exhibitions. “It will provide a platform to build bridges of cooperation between states and people and promote Bahrain as a pioneering country which achieved economic, cultural and tourism strides.”
HM the King said Bahrain will always remain a beacon of tolerance and co-existence between all people, stressing the Kingdom’s standing millennia-old civilisation and cultural radiation.
BACA President noted that
Bahrain’s pavilion in Milan Expo 2015 attracted more than 2.2 million visitors. “The pavilion will be showcased in Bahrain,” she added.
