Bahrain Chamber Launches SME Department at New Term Start
The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its General Assembly meeting yesterday, marking the start of its 31st Board term under Chairman Nabeel Kanoo. The meeting saw participation from 448 members, representing over 20,000 votes.
Kanoo reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening its role as the main representative of the private sector and a key partner in supporting Bahrain’s economy. He highlighted new initiatives aimed at meeting business needs and driving sustainable growth.
Among the key developments is the launch of a dedicated department for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), designed to address challenges, provide advisory support, and enhance the sector’s contribution to the economy. The Chamber also plans to restructure its sectoral committees to improve representation and decision-making, with new formations to be announced soon.
To boost engagement, the Chamber will introduce quarterly open meetings with members, promoting transparency and direct dialogue. It is also assessing the economic impact of regional developments and will submit recommendations to relevant authorities, supported by field visits to local markets.
Kanoo emphasized that the Chamber’s next phase will focus on clear priorities and measurable outcomes that directly benefit members and improve the business environment. He concluded by stressing continued collaboration with government entities to support economic stability and national development.
