In honour of Bahraini doctors

HRH the Prime Minister has allocated $200,000 for the Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for outstanding Bahraini doctors in medical and treatment research, as well as for celebrations of Bahraini Doctors’ Day, The award’s launch and ways of celebrating Bahraini Doctors’ Day on the first Wednesday of November each year were discussed yesterday in a meeting held by HRH the Prime Minister’s Court.

These are in implementation of HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s directives. Attending the meeting were Shaikh Hossam bin Isa Al Khalifa, Minister of Health Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) president Dr Ghada Al Qasim, and other officials.

Shaikh Hossam stressed the importance of the initiative of HRH the Prime Minister, which, he said, reflects his visions and support for national professionals, as well as efforts made by the government, under HRH the Premier’s leadership, to achieve sustainable development goals.

Shaikh Hossam indicated that the award’s secretariat-general has begun to develop the necessary scenarios and the procedures required for its presentation, while noting that its basic system is set and a committee to choose the winners has been formed.

The committee consists of representatives from HRH the Prime Minister’s Court and the Ministry of Health, the BMS president, the Arabian Gulf University president, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-Bahrain president, an official from the World Health Organisation, as well as international experts in the field of medical research.

They will oversee all procedures for granting the award. The Health Minister expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his patronage of Bahraini Doctors’ Day celebrations and the distribution of his award to honor outstanding Bahraini doctors in medical and treatment research.

She stressed that all medical staff members of the health sector in the Kingdom appreciate HRH the Premier’s initiatives, which embody his enormous support for and appreciation of medical and health personnel.

On her part, the BMS president said that all workers in the health sector are always grateful to HRH the Premier for his appreciation and recognition of their efforts and contributions to the country. The first edition of Bahraini Doctors’ Day is to be organised on November 4 later this year.
