Health Minister conducts field visits at COVID-19 centres

TDT | Manama

Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh yesterday made inspection visits to a number of coronavirus (COVID-19) testing, treatment and isolation centres, marking Eid Al Adha. The minister was informed about the workflow and the quality of services delivered at those facilities, as part of the national efforts to combat the coronavirus.

Al Saleh expressed her sincere congratulations to all medical, nursing and administrative teams who are carrying out their duties to the fullest on the frontlines of the COVID-19 fight. She lauded the dedication and sacrifices they are making in order to protect the safety and health of citizens and residents, which, she said, has contributed to making Bahrain’s experience in combatting the pandemic a model to be emulated.

The Health Minister praised the constant support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and extended thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for their unwavering follow-up on the efforts exerted by Team Bahrain to defeat the pandemic.

The minister visited the Coronavirus Unified Call Centre (444), which was inaugurated in February earlier this year to provide support for all cases, including those in precautionary quarantine, as well as respond to people’s queries about the disease. She also inspected the integrated COVID-19 testing centre at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, which conducts tests for those coming from abroad, contacts of active cases, and suspected COVID-19 patients.

The stateof-the-art medical facility includes 400 beds, 1,000 waiting seats, three clinics, 12 treatment beds, and a pharmacy. It also includes 42 COVID-19 sampling stations, and 16 others for asymptomatic cases.

The minister also visited Bahrain International Hospital, which is run by the National Taskforce for Combatting COVID-19 in cooperation with the Health Ministry and Royal Medical Services; as well as the Shamel Field Hospital, which handles the home self-isolation active cases.
