Road revamp plans unveiled

Roads Projects and Maintenance Director at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Sayyed Bader Alawi revealed that the Ministry has commenced the paving of dirt roads in Block 1038 in Sadad (Road 3813) and Block 1026 in Karzakan, in addition to constructing Road 2631 and a parking lot at the Northern Governorate.
According to Alawi, the Dirt Roads Program is part of the Government’s program aiming to improve infrastructure in the Kingdom, give priority to the paving of dirt roads in urban areas and create an integrated roads network in all areas in the Kingdom, in coordination with the municipal councils and the Capital General Secretariat. 
The project has been included within the Government’s work plan for 2015-2016 and is hoped to serve 170 residential units in both villages, alleviate traffic congestion, increase traffic safety levels and create 45 parking spaces.
Alawi also added that works comprised of paving a total of 4.9km long roads; civil and paving works, implementing ground channels for present and future use, implementing a storm water drainage network, installing a new lighting network, painting works and signage.
