Tough punishments for supporting terror
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa yesterday ratified and issued Law 8/2019 for the protection of the community against terrorist acts. Promoting, glorifying, justifying, admiring or encouraging terrorist acts will attract jail terms not exceeding five years and a fine between BD2,000 and BD5,000.
Jail terms will be applicable for everyone who holds or possesses, personally or through another person, a document or record containing the aforesaid promotion where it is intended to be distributed or shared.
The same penalty will also be inflicted on everyone who holds or possesses, personally or through another person, any means of printing, recording or publicizing regardless of the type thereof whether used or intended for use even on a temporary basis for printing, recording or broadcasting such promotion. `
