Bahraini wins top ME award for underwater picture

A Bahraini was among winners of a prestigious middle east wide photography competition

Hani Badr, who is an employee at the fisheries department of the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, was honored by the organizers of the World Organisation for Animal Health photo-competition 2019 by World Organisation for Animal Health. Badr won the award for a stunning picture he captured of a fisherman catching fish while being underwater.

"I am extremely pleased for winning this award. I am happy to have represented Bahrain on a high level" Badr said.

"The winning image is one that i captured of a man catching fish, i was able to get a shot of this happening partially underwater. The picture shows fish being caught by the net." he said. "I use special equipment designed to be used underwater. These were were quite expensive to buy but i am happy to have made the investment."

Undersecretary of Agricultural and Marine Wealth of the Ministry of Works, Municipality Affairs, Urban Planning, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa  praised Badr's accomplishment. "This achievement is a source of pride and pride for us. This shows again how Bahrainis are able to compete and win in international competitions" "Encouraging creativity is something important to us and we want to see talented Bahrainis shine." he said.
