March 2018 hottest on record: Met data

Manama : Last month was the hottest March ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902, according to a monthly weather summary released by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Meteorological Directorate. 

The highest temperature recorded was 37.6°C which occurred on the 30th of March at Bahrain International Airport and goes on record as the third highest maximum temperature for March since 1946. Top two hottest days occurred on 29th March 1998 (38.1°C) and on 29th March 1998 (38.0°C). 

The monthly analysis also shows that the mean minimum temperature of the month was 20.7°C which is 2.9°C above the long-term normal and goes on record as the highest mean minimum temperatures for the month of March since 1946. This is same as March 1969. The lowest temperature recorded was 17.4°C set on the 20th of March at Bahrain International Airport but recorded 15.5°C on the 3rd of March at Durrat Al Bahrain.

The highest monthly rainfall ever recorded during March was 139.2 mm which occurred on March 1995.
