Bahraini Sailor detained in Qatar released
Manama : A Bahraini sailor returned home 11 days after he was detained, along with two other fishermen, by the Qatari Coastguards, DT News has learnt.
The family of Mustafa Hassan, 30, had circulated several messages on local social media during the past week, pleading the authorities to interfere and find their son who went missing since December 17 after entering the sea on a fishing trip with two fishermen of Asian nationalities.
It was later revealed that Hassan was rescued and arrested by the Qatari Coast Guards after his boat drifted with no fuel into the Qatari regional waters.
The family once again pleaded to release Hassan, claiming that he is facing charges of illegally entering Qatari waters.
A picture of Hassan was again circulated online on Thursday, stating that he was released and returned home, after being interrogated by the Qatari authorities. No official statements were issued on the case and no further information was available on the condition of the two other fishermen.
